Texas Vaca

Here's a rundown on all the fun times the girls' had in Texas....

I heart this picture of Brooklyn and SK. This pretty much sums up the 10 days they spent together. Brooklyn patiently leading SK around and playing for hours on end. These girls played babies and house for hours and hours each day. Brooklyn has THE BEST imagination and has taught SK how to play house anywhere, anytime.
Brooklyn also painted SK like a clown.....
On Thursday, after Poppa's anniversary lunch, I had all the little ones for nap time. Huddo and AK were fast asleep and B and SK were (of course) playing babies in Poppa's room. Since they do this so often and so well, I thought I'd just finish a great chick lit I had started in Mexico. A little while later, Brooklyn comes into the study and asks if I would like to meet her clown. Thinking they had probably found an old stuffed clown, I said sure. BUT, in walks SK painted in PERMANENT LIPSTICK (found in Nannie's makeup drawer that was probably 4-5 years old!) doing a little clown dance Brooklyn taught her.
Here are the thoughts that immediately went through my head:
*ahhh she's kinda cute
*shout out to Brooklyn's Kindergarten teacher on teaching how to correctly draw all the shapes
*SK had been paying attention in dance class
*what is that she painted her with
*thank goodness it's not on your brand new very expensive Chez Ami matching outfits
*we have family pictures (that have already been rescheduled once) in 3 hours
*we'll just keep this our little secret and not let anyone know I was the one in charge when they did it........

After having a good laugh with the girls I did what anyone else would do and got a washcloth to wash her off. No luck.

Here's what we did in the next 24+ hours to try and get her clean.
several long soaks in the bathtub
salt scrub
fingernail polish remover
vinegar
soap
swimming for 2 hours
scrubbing, scrubbing, scrubbing
scratching, scratching, scratching
NO LUCK!!! Finally, late the next evening, Poppa thought to get good old fashioned cold cream and scrub her down. That did the trick. Thank goodness!

Playing the piano at Poppas when the babies were awake and loving aunts were there who didn't say no to the sweet music these girls made.

Riding n*ked in the Cozy Coupe on Poppa's deck.

Playing bubbles

Lots and lots of swimming

The last night we were there, SK cuddled up on Poppa's shoulder for about an hour and fell fast asleep.
Picnics on Poppa's kitchen floor.

*Yes, SK is wearing baby clothes. They are size 12 months. Isn't she cute! :)

Feeding Hudson
Poppa's 40th anniversary of Mitchell Welding Supply. What an honor to be in Texas on Poppa's special celebration. Look how LONG Huddie is next to AK. AK just had her 15 month checkup and is in the 80% percentile for height. I'm sure there is no growth curve for this tall boy!
Taking baths together.
I wonder if this picture will ever show up again? Future rehearsal dinner footage???
