Beach 2009

We spent the last week at our favorite vacation spot, 30-A, between Destin and Panama City Beach. Adam and I have been going here since 2003 and we love this area. Laid back, GREAT restaurants and beautiful beaches. This was our first vacation with just the four of us (we missed you O'Doyles!). We had so much fun family time and made so many memories, but boy it was hard work! ;) Adam and I are looking forward to planning a weekend trip this fall to relax! ha!
We made lots of memories together as a family and had each of the girls reached some big milestones. Sara learned to swim! She is such a fish and conquered all her fears and is swimming like crazy. Jumping off the side of the pool, sitting on the bottom and swimming all over the place. She wouldn't get off the steps at the beginning of the summer. And sweet little Anna Kate, potty-trained herself! WOO-HOO! She had been really trying to since we got home from Texas in mid-July and we kept putting her off because we did not want to have to stop every half hour driving to FL! But she had other plans. She kept taking her diaper off at home and going potty all day with no accidents. She stayed dry the whole way to FL and we haven't looked back. Yay AK! More details on her 'panty party' with her bff later this week.
Now for the pictures. Bear with me, there are about 50. We took over 400! :)

We are here and ready to go! After a stop at the Sugar Shak on our way into town we are ready to swim! We stayed at Sol y Luna in Seacrest. It is a private, beach front house with a private pool and has its on steps to the beach. (There are 42 stairs down to the beach, but who'd counting!) We HIGHLY recommend it! We booked from vrbo.com. It's perfect for a small family. The owners live in the 2 top floors but are very respectful of your privacy.

On Sunday we noticed the under current was VERY strong but didn't think much about it. Little did we know that Tropical Storm Claudette was about to make landfall early Monday morning. We can say we survived a tropical storm. Funny thing is we wouldn't even have known until it arrived if Adam hadn't looked at the weather channel before we went out to dinner. It hit about 1 a.m. bringing strong winds and lots of rain that lasted through early afternoon Monday. Just enough time to hit the outlets in Destin. ;)
