Operation Potty Training

What else is there to do when one is stuck at home for a month with no driving? Potty train an almost 2 1/2 year old! This sounded like a fantastic idea last night.... I had absolutely no plans to slow down our life and potty train until Spring Break, but, after visiting with wise Cousin S last night, we're giving it a try. This morning we got 'Mr. Timer,' food coloring to make the water cool colors (and the added bonus of teaching color mixing!), a neat Dora sticker chart, lots of M&Ms (bribery is good!) and even went potty by 9:15. Then, Bug got tired and remembered the diapers in her room and threw herself on the living room floor about 4 times with diaper in hand before naptime. Oh, the power struggle. So, being the sly mom that I am, I made up a big fat lie about how our sweet new friend, Baby Macie, needs diapers and Bug should give all of her diapers to baby Macie. After a trip to buy Dora panties, chewing gum (bribery, again!) and pull ups for night time, we are well on our way! Only one 'almost' accident today when Bug started to go on my leg, but we hobbled (no running with a big booted foot!) to the bathroom just in time. She's now sleeping peacefully with her new pink Dora panties over her pullup. Stay tuned...
