Soccer '09

Mia Hamm watch out! There's a new soccer girl in town ;) SK is playing soccer with 2 of her friends from school this spring. Her little league is all girls ages 4 and under. SK is one of the youngest on her team, but definitely much taller than everyone else! She has been sooooo excited about being able to play soccer like her TX cousin Jennifer. She picked out shiny silver and pink cleats, a new blue practice outfit and wanted her hair in a long ponytail down her back. She was so excited when her first practice finally came yesterday. We were so proud of her, too. Our little shy girl ran right out to the coach and participated the whole time! Yippee!!! She did stretches, ran laps, learned the 3 rules of soccer (#1- no hands, #2 - kick and run, #3 - have fun!), kicked the ball down the field and can't wait for next week. Her coach seems wonderful with a bunch of 3 and 4 year old girls. He said the goal is only for the girls to have fun and that they like to have 4 players on the field at all times, but sometimes there are not 4 players wanting to play, so they play with 2 or 3! Adam and I were very impressed with how patient he was and so thankful she is playing with the Y and was able to end practice with a big team and family prayer. We still don't know what color her jersey is yet, which is a bummer. We need matching hair accessories before the big first game ;)

Our little (or rather 'tall') soccer girl!

Team huddle to learn every one's name and the 3 rules.
